Untangled!

Hi guys! I hope you’re all having a great Labor Day weekend!🇺🇸⚾️☀️🌭

So, recently when I was unpacking from a weekend getaway, I had to spend time untangling some jewelry I had brought. I love the fabulous mix-and-match necklace and bracelet trend, but it is often hard to keep these delicate beauties from getting caught up with one another, especially when I pack them for travel. Does this ever happen to you?

Ugh… but when I opened a package from Kylie Cosmetics (more on that in my September Favorites post) a few minutes later, there was a nice sheet of foam, approximately 3/8″ thick keeping my new Lip Kits safe in transport, I got an idea for jewelry storage. Now I’m relatively certain I’m not the first person to come up with this brilliant plan, but I decided to cut the foam and use it for future jewelry storage. I cut the foam into three pieces, one for necklaces, one bracelets, and one for earrings.

I cut slits in both sides of each, approximately half inch apart. This allowed space for approximately eight necklaces and eight bracelets respectively. The foam was thin enough that I could just poke earrings through the smallest piece without having to make any cuts.

Next, I placed all three sheets side-by-side in a fairly good size make up bag I had on hand from SAKS. I put my new and exciting jewelry storage method to the test by shaking the bag a little upside down and sideways.

When I opened it up, all the jewelry completely intact in its original position and not tangled at all. The case is flat enough to place in a carry-on or tote with lots of room to spare. BTW, I’m actually going to place these foam storage sheets in my jewelry cabinet as is because they are so great, and I can change them out with different pieces, as needed.

I hope you find this idea helpful. Michael’s and other craft/sewing stores sell sheets of foam if you don’t have any on hand… and as always, please message or email me your thoughts, questions or suggestions.

LM💗
