Bring a Buddy to the Gym

I’m sure you’ve heard lots of reasons why it’s a great idea to work out with a friend. Honestly, they are pretty much all true. Working out with a partner increases your chance of success, promotes accountability, and makes working out fun. It can help you feel less intimidated in a crowded class or gym, especially if you are new to exercising. Also, there’s nothing like offering your support and encouragement to your workout partner.

So, when I was working out with my beautiful and super fit stepdaughter, @taytayamos, last week, I discovered a couple more benefits to working out with a buddy… especially if your buddy is a body builder/bikini competitor who is studying to be a nutritionist and trainer!!!! (I know, I know… We can’t all be so lucky…) One of the cool things I realized is that we can often learn a lot from our workout partners. For example, a new exercise or class you might not have thought of on your own, correct form, a new way to perform an exercise. Even new music! So many good things…

I also recently got my husband back to the gym after a shoulder injury, surgery, and recovery. I was super excited to encourage and motivate him to get back in shape. As it turned out, he helped me, too!! He showed me some of the weight equipment I wasn’t familiar with, and set up the battle ropes and sled for me, and as always, encouraged me in my fitness goals. Plus, he always makes me laugh, so there was that!! Wow… inviting a friend to the gym… yes, please!!

As I’ve mentioned, there are few things I love more than helping a friend or acquaintance to get in shape, and/or meet their fitness goals. This is probably my favorite reason to bring a buddy to the gym!! It’s such a great feeling to introduce someone to a work out or exercise class I love, and have them love it too!

Please message or email me with other benefits you love about working out with a friend. I will add them to my post and mention you!
