As you may have gathered by now, I love helping people feel their confident best. I’m excited to share a couple favorite quick and easy tips I use pretty regularly. I’m not endorsing any one brand over another, but pictured are products I personally have tried and love.
- As far as I’m concerned, sunless tanner is a gift from the Heavens. Tan skin makes us look slimmer, corrects uneven skin tone, and reduces the appearance of cellulite. Seriously… IT WORKS!! I prefer the creams to spray products. You can use a glove made specifically for tanner application, or an inexpensive latex glove if you’re concerned about staining your hands… or there’s always soap and water! Do-it-yourself tanners, like my favorite tanner-bronzer combo by Lorac are so much quicker, easier and less expensive than driving somewhere to get a messy spray tan.
- Body firming/lifting lotions are another product I can’t live without! Yes, they really do work, buuut… I’ve never yet found one that has given me permanent results. I get asked about this a lot, and I tell my clients to think of these magical products as make up for troubled areas. In my experience, both the the Clarins and Murad products above reduce the appearance of cellulite and make skin look smoother for a several hours. Combine that with sunless tanner, and you will look fantastic in shorts, a bathing suit or lingerie!!
- And of course let’s not forget to keep our skin moisteurized. Drink lots of water, always wear sunscreen on your face, and use a nice emollient lotion on your face and body! ( are sure you use a facial moisturizer that is right for your skin type… you don’t need to spend a lot – there are many great brands at your local pharmacy!

- Some of my other favorite beauty products are those that help with thin(ing) hair. I’ve had thin hair all my life, and let me tell you, some of these products are really game changers! Unfortunately, hormonal changes can contribute to pattern baldness as we age. For those of us with darker hair, it’s especially noticable. Then, if you throw a frequent bun or ponytail in the mix, it can get even worse at the temples. What’s a girl (or guy) to do? Well… I will tell you! Magic Root Cover Up by L’oreal is a little can of magical goodness! Seriously, it comes in eight shades, and disguises roots and thin spots. It’s available in pharmacies. Another product I love is a brush on product by Madison Reed. This product also comes in several shades, and is quick and easy. This one is not quite as good at covering grey hair though. It’s available at Ulta and on line.
- While we’re on the subject of hair, you can rarely go wrong with dry shampoo. By now a lot of us know that it’s hard on our hair to wash it every day. Dry shampoo is a great fix in between regular shampoos. Here’s my favorite trick: after you spray it on your roots, or wherever you need it, wait a few minutes and them blow dry it out with a brush. That way your hair will feel fresh and not full of product. Then style as usual. I love this product by Moroccanoil because it smells really nice and, because it comes in different colors, doesn’t leave my hair chalky. Suave also makes a great one I didn’t picture here. Also don’t forget that a little back combing helps with volume.
- Last but not least on the subject of hair is my favorite brow dye, Godefroy Instant Eyebrow Tint Kit. This quick and easy kit comes in probably 20 shades. I have gotten it at the beauty supply and on Amazon. Honestly, my stylist @eugeniahampton does the most amazing job of dying my brows, but I can’t always get there, and this is waaaay less expensive. My suggestion here would be to take your time and use a magnified mirror. I love Maybelline‘s brush on brow products, too. They’re not permanent like the dye. Thicker, fuller brows easily take at least 10 years off our appearance. Again, not rushing with application is key. Eventually, I will get brave and try microblading for a more permanent brow fix, but that’s a topic for another post.
